Services in the Project – Precise General Contracting for Maximum Security
The implementation was carried out within a general contractor structure with precise control of all technical processes and interfaces. A specialized team of project managers, architects, and structural engineers ensured the professional execution of the fire protection measure. As the construction of the F90 wall directly interfered with the existing data center infrastructure, the coordination of 30 active specialists and six trades involved formed the core of the service.
- Taking over the general contractor function: Complete organization and control of the involved trades to ensure a smooth project flow.
- Interdisciplinary Construction Management Continuous coordination of execution phases, taking into account structural and architectural requirements.
- Scheduling and coordination: Detailed planning of time slots to maintain system availability throughout the construction period.
- Integration of technical preparatory work Voting and carrying out the necessary preparatory work on the building technology to position the wall in accordance with standards.
Project Highlights: Seamless integration of new fire compartments into existing architecture
The essential result of the measure is the seamless separation of the fire compartments from the bare ceiling to the bare floor. A crucial part of the implementation was the preparatory adaptation of the MEP infrastructure, to clear the space for the massive wall elements. Precise planning ensured the structural integrity was maintained while the new protective barrier was completed without functional limitations for the data center.
Project Management: Six Months Coordinated Implementation of Technical Specifications
The realization followed a defined staging over a Six-month period. The opening was a in-depth inventory analysis infrastructure, as well as the building code review of fire protection requirements. In coordination between architecture and structural engineering, the positioning of the F90 wall was determined before the active construction phase in September started.
In the implementation phase, Daterra managed the parallel processes as the general contractor. One focus was on Coordination of interfaces, to Relocation of technical trades to precisely integrate with the wall construction over time. On-site construction management ensured all steps were completed within the timeframe, allowing for completion in February with the final acceptance occurred.
Special Challenges – Construction During Operations Under Winter Conditions
The greatest difficulty was carrying out the work during the Winter months while simultaneously protecting the sensitive environment. To ensure material quality and execution quality, Daterra built a heated protective tent directly above the work area. In parallel, the Ongoing operation of the data center, a dust-free and low-vibration working method to avoid jeopardizing the availability of IT systems. To meet the logistical requirements and to ensure the Workplace safety during work at height also came a comprehensive Safety and work scaffolding for use.
